The band behind Give Me Dirt
Cancer Bats’ current lineup is vocalist Liam Cormier, drummer Mike Peters, bassist Jaye Schwarzer and guitarist Jackson Landry, who joined in 2023. The band’s official biography identifies Give Me Dirt as their eighth studio album, following Psychic Jailbreak. The record follows a touring cycle for Psychic Jailbreak that took the band across several continents.
The album was produced by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios in Salem, Massachusetts, then completed in Canada with Ian Romano. According to the band’s account, the songs began with all four members playing in the same room before Cormier developed the lyrics and vocal parts in Nova Scotia. Those details describe the record’s making, rather than a promised setlist.
