Alcest Announce First Live Album, Share “Protection” From Hellfest 2022
Alcest’s Live at Hellfest 2022 arrives December 4. Hear “Protection” and explore the eight-track album.
Alcest are opening the vault on their 2022 festival set. The French band have announced Live at Hellfest 2022, their first live album, for December 4, 2026 through Nuclear Blast. The first preview, “Protection (Live at Hellfest 2022),” is available with an official performance video.
The announcement arrived on October 6. Alongside the digital release, Nuclear Blast is offering a limited double-vinyl edition in a natural finish with black smoke. It documents an earlier stage of the band’s live history while Alcest continue their current North American run with Mastodon and Deafheaven.
Eight songs from the Hellfest set
The official running order starts with “Les jardins de minuit,” places “Protection” second and ends with “Délivrance.” Between them are “Sapphire,” “Écailles de lune – Part 2,” “Autre temps,” “Oiseaux de proie” and “Kodama.” Bandcamp lists the released version of “Protection” at six minutes and fifteen seconds.
For digital listeners, the Bandcamp preorder includes the preview track immediately, with the remaining album delivered at release. The listing specifies a 24-bit/44.1kHz download. That gives fans a straightforward way to hear the first selection now and return to the complete eight-song sequence in December.
A live document from Neige and Winterhalter
Neige founded Alcest in 2000, with drummer Winterhalter joining in 2009. The label describes the project as rooted in Neige’s personal spiritual experiences, expressed through its melodies and lyrics. That background adds context to the songs being revisited on this live release.
