RAM Release Against and Detail the Wet/Dry Setup Behind Its Solos
RAM’s Against arrives October 9. The band explains how separately miked wet and dry amplifiers and room microphones captured the guitar solos.

RAM have released Against through Metal Blade Records on October 9. The 11-track album is the Swedish band’s first studio full-length since 2019’s The Throne Within, and the label now lists it as available on physical, download and streaming formats.
Two amps, with the room in the recording
The band recorded at Studio Recordia in Varberg with Johan Reiven. In the label’s album notes, vocalist Oscar Carlquist describes a particular approach to the guitar solos: one amplifier carried effects, while a second stayed dry. Each was miked separately, with two additional room microphones capturing the left and right sides of the space.
The recording lineup features guitarists Harry Granroth and Martin Jonsson. The published account establishes how the solo sound was captured, but it does not identify the exact amplifier models or provide a complete guitar-by-guitar session inventory.
The album is available now
The official Bandcamp page confirms the October 9 release and the complete 11-song sequence, including “Ghost Emperor,” “Abattoir,” “Night Blade” and the title track. Physical shipping and delivery timing depend on the edition and retailer.
