Erja Lyytinen releases 50th Birthday Live 2026

Erja Lyytinen has released 50th Birthday Live 2026, with a new live video of “Ball and Chain” marking its arrival on October 9. The Tuohi Records release is available in double-CD/DVD, double-vinyl and digital formats.

Its central performance was recorded at Helsinki’s House of Culture, also known as Kultsa, on March 21, 2026. The birthday show draws on different parts of the guitarist’s catalog, including Voracious Love, Another World and Smell the Roses.

Guests and a second concert

Sami Yaffa joins “One Thing I Won’t Change,” while Swedish trio Baskery appears on “Torn.” The release also draws on a separate Smell the Roses tour recording made at Tempo in Mikkeli, Finland, on October 3, 2025.

That second concert includes “Dragonfly,” “Abyss” and “Wedding Day.” The latter is listed at more than 13 minutes, giving listeners a substantial live version to explore.

The physical versions do not carry identical programs. The second CD is titled Smell the Roses Live 2025, while “Nasty Weather” from the birthday concert is marked as DVD-only in the published tracklist. The double vinyl has its own selection.

For listeners coming to Lyytinen through her guitar playing, the official “Ball and Chain” video is a direct starting point. Watch the released performance before choosing your preferred format.
