Joe Stump’s new single “Hyperbolic” precedes Lord of the Strings, out October 16 through Silver Lining Music.

Stump describes the solo’s path from old-school shred through Blackmore-inspired playing into arpeggios. That is his account, not a claim about the equipment used.

Behind the instrumental album

Stump plays guitars and bass; Francisco Palomo handles keyboards and drums. They share production credits. The album contains twelve instrumental tracks.

From the stage to the classroom

Berklee lists Stump as an associate professor teaching Hard Rock/Metal Lab and guitar instruction. His faculty profile describes demonstrating techniques, answering questions and expecting students to practice between lessons. He emphasizes dedication behind virtuosity, a useful counterpoint to the apparent effortlessness of advanced playing.
