Catalinbread’s Cold One takes the DOD Punkifier’s blended-gain idea and adds another variable: glitch fuzz. The manufacturer currently lists the pedal at $199.99 in the US.

Two blends, different jobs

According to Catalinbread’s control guide, Glitch mixes conventional fuzz with glitch fuzz. Fuzz Blend then balances that combined fuzz side against the distortion side. Gain changes only the distortion path, so it has no effect with Fuzz Blend fully clockwise.

That distinction is the useful part. You can change the character of the fuzz and its proportion in the overall sound separately, rather than treating every knob as another amount-of-dirt control. Catalinbread also says low distortion gain lets that path act as a clean blend for bass.

The remaining controls are Tone and Vol. Power requirements are 9–18V DC, center-negative, with a stated 4mA draw. The product page includes audio examples and a linked demonstration.

Catalinbread names Graham Coxon among the original Punkifier’s users. For the broader Blur connection, read our Graham Coxon guitars and gear guide. Where would you start with Cold One: distortion, conventional fuzz, or the glitch blend?
