Danish heavy-rock band EMPATH release “Only The Dead”
Denmark’s EMPATH release “Only The Dead” through Indisciplinarian ahead of their self-titled debut, due November 13.

Copenhagen’s EMPATH have released “Only The Dead,” dated October 15 on Apple Music’s single listing and issued through Indisciplinarian. The band’s self-titled debut is due November 13.
Rising’s songwriting partnership takes a new direction
The group’s creative center is vocalist Morten Grønnegaard and guitarist Jacob Krogholt, who previously played together in Rising. For the debut, the lineup is completed by bassist KB Larsen and drummer Jeppe Munk Aakeson.
Indisciplinarian’s band profile describes an eight-song, 38-minute album rooted in heavy, progressive and psychedelic rock and metal of the 1970s and ’80s. Krogholt is also credited with synths, an important part of the label’s description of a sound that draws on old science-fiction soundtracks.
The literary connections extend to the writing. The label names Arthur C. Clarke, William Blake and Thomas De Quincey among Grønnegaard’s inspirations, with the album examining human ambition and its consequences. That gives the November release a frame beyond its members’ previous bands.
“Only The Dead” is the new entry point. With guitar and synth sharing that world, what draws you into heavy rock first: the riff, the atmosphere, or the story?
