A residency, edited into an album
The recordings come from the Royal Albert Hall in 1990 and 1991. Clapton played 18 shows in the first year, then 24 in the second. Across those residencies, the musical settings included a rock band, a blues band and an orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. Rhino’s account of the residencies
The original album contains 15 songs selected from that larger run.
Its title refers to the 1991 residency; the record covers a fraction of the performances, rather than every concert.
“Badge,” “White Room” and “Sunshine of Your Love” sit alongside later material including “Old Love” and “Edge of Darkness.”
