Deep Purple postpone Leipzig and Hamburg shows after Ian Gillan medical emergency
Deep Purple confirm two German postponements. The band statement reports Ian Gillan’s hospitalisation; replacement dates remain pending.
Deep Purple have postponed two German shows after a medical emergency involving singer Ian Gillan. The band’s official tour calendar now marks the October 31 concert at Leipzig’s QI Arena and the November 1 concert at Hamburg’s Sporthalle as postponed.
In a band statement reproduced by Classic Rock, Deep Purple said Gillan had been hospitalised following a medical emergency. The statement did not specify a diagnosis or give a recovery timetable.
What ticket holders need to know
The statement says the band is working to reschedule both concerts and that tickets will remain valid. Hamburg’s presenting radio partner, ROCK ANTENNE Hamburg, separately confirms that the Sporthalle show is being moved and that tickets for it retain their validity.
No replacement dates were included in the announcements reviewed for this report. Ticket holders should follow the band and their venue for the confirmed arrangements.
