Overloud THU v2.2 Brings NAM Profiles Into Its Signal Chain
THU Premium v2.2 brings NAM profiles into Overloud’s signal chain, with NAM Tweak controls and access to its existing processing tools.
Overloud announced its NAM Player on 27 October, adding Neural Amp Modeler profiles to the THU Premium v2.2 signal chain. The update gives guitarists a way to build a THU rig around a NAM capture, combining that starting point with the software’s effects, cabinets and MIDI control.
For a guitarist who already has a preferred capture, the appeal is straightforward: keep that profile at the centre of a preset while arranging the surrounding processing in the same environment.
What the controls do
ILIO’s product description identifies three ways to shape that signal. NAM Tweak adjusts distortion character and the response to playing dynamics. Fluid Processing is intended to reproduce nonlinear speaker behaviour, while AIR adds room ambience. These are manufacturer and distributor descriptions. GuitarGangsters has not independently tested the sound or feel.
AIR itself predates this release. Overloud lists it as part of the v2.0.9 update, so v2.2’s news is the NAM integration and its access to THU’s processing tools, rather than the first appearance of room simulation in the software.
Who gets the update?
The NAM Player is included as a free update for THU Premium v2 users. Owners of earlier releases or other THU editions should check their licence and available upgrade options before assuming it is included in their installation.
NAM A2 compatibility was not confirmed in the documentation reviewed. Players depending on a particular profile format should verify support before making it central to a session or live preset.
