SoloDallas has updated the Schaffer Replica Storm with top-mounted jacks, giving its analog boost, limiter and drive pedal a more convenient connection layout for crowded pedalboards.

The November 4 announcement concerns the hardware arrangement, rather than a newly announced signal-processing platform. SoloDallas continues to describe the circuit as a recreation of effects found in the 1974 Schaffer-Vega Diversity System wireless unit.

Three controls for drive and dynamics

Gain controls the harmonic-clipping stage, Boost sets the output boost, and Limiter adjusts the limiting threshold. The company specifies up to 31dB of clean boost. The limiter’s response also interacts with the Gain setting, giving players more to explore than a single volume lift.

The current product page specifies Neutrik top-mounted jacks, true-bypass switching and a center-negative 9–12V DC supply rated at 200mA. The power adapter is sold separately.

A practical update to an existing pedal

The news here is easier cable placement around a familiar design. Top-mounted connections can help organize a board, although the actual space saving depends on plugs and neighboring pedals.

At the time of checking, the US manufacturer page listed a $249 sale price. That is a US listing, not a guaranteed delivered price in other markets.
