The Killers are marking the 20th anniversary of Sam’s Town with two newly mastered vinyl editions and a five-single 7-inch box. The announcement, reported by Universal Music’s uDiscover on October 2, puts the spotlight on the album and the singles that carried its original campaign.

Two album editions, different formats

The numbered audiophile edition spreads the record across two 180-gram LPs running at 45 RPM. Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound handled the vinyl mastering and cutting from the assembled analog masters, with pressing at Optimal Media in Germany. The package adds “Peace Of Mind,” a 12-page booklet and an OBI strip inside a heavyweight gatefold presentation. The worldwide run is 4,000 copies.

The Red Smoke edition takes the single-LP route: one 180-gram disc at 33 RPM, also mastered and cut by Smith from the assembled analog masters. Its listed track sequence contains the original twelve songs, without the extra “Peace Of Mind” included on the double LP.

The singles get their own box

Limited to 2,000 copies worldwide, the 7-inch box set brings together “When You Were Young,” “Bones,” “Read My Mind” and “For Reasons Unknown,” each with its original B-side. A fifth disc pairs “Peace Of Mind” with “Read My Mind” in its Like Rebel Diamonds Mix. The official store identifies this as that mix’s first vinyl appearance.

All five singles are black vinyl, packaged in a top-loading box with a folded 14-by-14-inch poster. For collectors, the choice is specific: a double-LP album presentation with a bonus track, the original album sequence on colored vinyl, or a singles collection with the associated B-sides.
