Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler joined Jack Black’s Jack Sabbath for “War Pigs” at Tom Morello’s Power To The People festival on October 3, 2026. The performance took place at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

Butler’s guest appearance is documented in contemporary reports from ThePRP and Blabbermouth, with Associated Press also reporting the collaboration from the festival. Black fronted the tribute act under the Jack Sabbath name.

The band behind Jack Sabbath

Black’s backing musicians were Roman Morello on guitar, Revel Ian on bass, Yoyoka Soma on drums and Hugo Weiss on keyboards, according to Blabbermouth’s report. Roman is Tom Morello’s son; Revel is the son of Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. All four musicians were also named in the festival’s official announcement.

The reported three-song set moved from Ozzy Osbourne’s solo song “Mr. Crowley” into Black Sabbath’s “The Wizard,” before Butler joined for “War Pigs.” That distinction matters: Jack Sabbath’s selection reached across both the Sabbath catalogue and Osbourne’s solo work.

“War Pigs” appeared on Black Sabbath’s 1970 album Paranoid. Butler’s place in this performance gave the tribute a direct connection to the band that recorded the song.

Part of Morello’s Power To The People festival

Morello curated the one-day event around music, community action and civic engagement. Its announced lineup also included Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Serj Tankian and Taylor Momsen, alongside many other artists.

For Sabbath fans, the key moment was the set’s final song: Jack Black at the microphone, with Geezer Butler joining the next generation of players for “War Pigs.”
