Kenny Wayne Shepherd Joins Colin Stough on “Bone Dry (Revisited)”
Kenny Wayne Shepherd adds guitar to Colin Stough’s “Bone Dry (Revisited),” a new take on the July release with an official visualizer now available.

Colin Stough has teamed up with Kenny Wayne Shepherd for “Bone Dry (Revisited),” a new version of the song Stough originally released in July. Shepherd contributes guitar to the collaboration, which BBR Music Group announced as available in its October 1 release.
According to the label, the revisited recording gives the previously stripped-back heartbreak song an electric treatment. Its central image remains a dried-up river, used to describe the emotional exhaustion left by a breakup.
Shepherd joins an existing song
BBR credits “Bone Dry” to Stough, Gavin Lucas and Jackson Inman. In the label’s announcement, Stough says he had long admired Shepherd’s music and welcomed the chance to bring the guitarist’s sound to a song that mattered to him.
Shepherd, in turn, praises Stough’s sense of direction and his abilities as a writer, singer and guitarist. He also expresses enthusiasm about what they might make together next, without announcing another release.
Southern rock in Stough’s background
The collaboration fits a part of Stough’s background that country listeners may already recognize. His official BBR biography describes him as a self-taught guitarist raised on the Mississippi-Alabama line, with influences including the Allman Brothers, Conway Twitty and Koe Wetzel.
Stough began playing guitar at eight and later finished third on season 21 of “American Idol,” according to that biography. His subsequent releases include the EPs “Promiseland” and “Lookin’ for Home.”
An official visualizer for “Bone Dry (Revisited)” is now available through the artists’ joint YouTube upload. Its description identifies 19 Recordings and BMG and states that Shepherd appears courtesy of RAM Records.
