The Doors’ 1966 sessions lead our Rhino Black Friday picks
Rhino’s November 27 line-up includes The Doors’ 1966 sessions, Ramones demos and Richard & Linda Thompson live.
Rhino’s October 6 announcement puts The Doors’ In The Beginning: 1966 Sessions among 22 RSD Black Friday releases due November 27, 2026, at participating independent stores. The format is one translucent tan LP.
Inside the Sunset Sound session
The official Record Store Day Germany listing dates the recording to August 29, 1966, at Sunset Sound, during work on the debut album. The material follows Moonlight Drive and Indian Summer through multiple takes, studio chatter and false starts. Neither song appeared on that debut.
That makes the session process the central attraction: attempts, interruptions and complete performances of two songs left off the album. The listing does not establish that every take is previously unreleased.
Two more guitar-focused picks
Rhino also lists Ramones’ Subterranean Jungle Demos as a yellow single LP, alongside Richard & Linda Thompson’s Live, 1982: The Final Tour as a black double LP. Together, the selections span studio sessions, demos and live performances.
The releases are due November 27 at participating independent record stores; check your shop for availability.
