Metallica’s October 3 show at Sphere in Las Vegas brought two long-absent songs back into the set: “Devil’s Dance” and “The Outlaw Torn.” The band’s official concert archive confirms both performances.

Two gaps finally close

In Metallica’s published performance history, the previous “Devil’s Dance” entry is June 7, 2008, at Rock am Ring in Nürburg, Germany. That makes the Las Vegas appearance its first listed outing in more than 18 years.

“The Outlaw Torn” has a shorter, but still substantial, gap. Its preceding listed performance took place on September 8, 2019, at the S&M2 show in San Francisco’s Chase Center. Seven years later, it returned at Sphere.

Where the rarities landed

The October 3 running order put “Devil’s Dance” fourth, after “Leper Messiah.” “The Outlaw Torn” appeared eighth, following “Welcome Home (Sanitarium).” Elsewhere, the set included “Orion,” “The Unforgiven” and “Whiskey in the Jar,” before closing with “Enter Sandman.”
