BIAS X 1.3 brings NAM captures into Positive Grid’s guitar rigs

BIAS X 1.3 lets existing owners bring NAM captures into their rigs, with manual loading and cabinet handling worth checking.

Positive Grid has added Neural Amp Modeler file support to BIAS X 1.3. Its new Neural Loader puts a locally stored capture into the amp position, letting guitarists build a complete effects chain around it.

The update is free for existing BIAS X owners. Positive Grid documented the feature on November 1; subsequent coverage has brought it back into the guitar-software news cycle. This is an update to a paid product, not an announcement that BIAS X itself is free.

Bring your own capture

Neural Loader accepts standard .nam files in both A1 and A2 formats. Users supply their own captures. The software can run two paths in parallel, so a capture can be combined with another capture or a built-in amp.

Cabinet handling deserves attention. For an Amp + Cab capture, BIAS X disables its separate cabinet stage. Incorrect or missing file-type metadata can be corrected manually, helping avoid processing the sound through two cabinet responses.

A useful boundary for the AI tools

Positive Grid’s Text-to-Tone and Music-to-Tone tools do not currently select users’ NAM captures. Loading those files remains a manual step.

For players, the practical question is how easily a familiar capture fits an existing recording setup. Check its type, match preset levels and compare it in the same musical passage before deciding whether it replaces an established rig. We have not tested this update, so there is no hands-on verdict here.
