PRS gives the Archon family six Black Paisley limited editions

PRS has extended its Black Paisley treatment to the Archon and Archon Classic amplifier families. Announced on October 6, 2026, this release covers six products, with production ranging from 75 to 200 units worldwide depending on the model.

Six products, not six amplifiers

The lineup comprises the Archon 50 Combo, Archon Classic 50 Combo, Archon 50 Head and Archon Classic Head, plus matching 1×12 and 2×12 speaker cabinets. Keeping those categories separate matters: the cabinets are passive speaker enclosures, not additional amplifier heads.

The four amplifiers are two-channel, 50-watt designs. Both combos use a single 12-inch Celestion V-Type speaker. PRS also specifies V-Type speakers for the matching closed-back cabinets: the 1×12 is rated at 70 watts and 16 ohms, while the 2×12 is rated at 140 watts and 8 ohms.

Archon and Archon Classic remain distinct

The shared covering does not erase the distinction between the Archon and Archon Classic models. Buyers comparing the editions should use the specification page for the exact head or combo, rather than assume that every product carrying the Archon name has the same circuit or valve complement.

There is a particular reason for that caution here: the launch wording and standard Archon specification tables do not give a completely uniform power-valve description. We are therefore not assigning one fixed valve type to every amplifier in this release.

What is new this time?

PRS offered Black Paisley versions of HDRX and Sonzera products earlier in 2026. This October announcement is the Archon-family expansion, rather than the first-ever use of the pattern. The practical choice remains head versus combo, Archon versus Classic, and the cabinet size and impedance that suit the intended setup.
