Queens of the Stone Age and Pixies Set a 16-Date US Tour for May 2027

Two very different ways to make a guitar sound unmistakably wrong—and exactly right—are heading onto the same bill. Queens of the Stone Age will tour the US with Pixies and Wheelchair Sports Camp in May 2027, starting in San Diego on May 1 and finishing in Boston on May 24.

The 16-date run is listed on Pixies’ official linked tour calendar, with event listings identifying Queens’ headline outing as the Perfecth World Tour. For guitar players, the interesting part is not simply the size of the names. It is the contrast between Josh Homme’s search for a distinct sound and Joey Santiago’s way of putting a line where another guitarist might put another chord.

Different routes to a recognizable guitar voice

In his March 2026 Guitar World interview, Homme described choosing unconventional instruments and amplification in pursuit of something identifiable as his own. He also discussed experimenting with out-of-phase sounds and switches that change a guitar’s character while he plays. The point was personal identity, not assembling a universally approved shopping list.

Santiago approached the question from the arrangement side in a March 2022 Guitar World interview. With Black Francis providing strong rhythm playing, he explained that he often prefers a complementary line to doubling the same chords. His account puts the relationship between two guitar parts ahead of technical display.

That gives this pairing a useful listening angle: pay attention to what makes a part recognizable, and to what the second guitar leaves out. More notes are not automatically more personality.

Those interviews describe the players’ approaches at the time. They do not establish the instruments, amplifiers or setlists that will appear on the 2027 tour, and the announcement does not promise a shared onstage performance.

Five stops from the announced route

• May 2: Kia Forum, Inglewood, California
• May 12: Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, Colorado
• May 18: Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana

These are selected dates, not the complete itinerary. Pixies’ official tour calendar lists all 16 US appearances with Queens of the Stone Age and Wheelchair Sports Camp. Check the official listing for your chosen venue for current ticket-sale information; dates and event details can change.

Two distinctive guitar approaches, one evening’s schedule: that is the draw here. Which player has influenced the way you build a guitar part more: Homme or Santiago—and what did you borrow?
