California’s Employment Development Department lists a temporary closure at Fender’s Corona site affecting 533 employees, effective December 14, 2026. The entry names 311 Cessna Circle and records October 15 as both the notice and processed date. EDD report

What the record establishes

The classification is “Closure Temporary,” not permanent closure. The summary provides no reopening date, reason or job breakdown. It does not establish the scope across Fender’s other operations.

The distinction matters. The published summary does not explain the planned closure or establish a connection to tariffs, demand or relocation. Those questions remain open.

Why Corona matters to guitar players

Fender’s October 13 announcement identifies Corona as the manufacturing location for the refreshed American Professional guitars and basses. That family includes Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jaguar and Jazzmaster models, alongside Precision and Jazz basses. Its introduction brought V-Mod III pickups and revised hardware and electronics. The shared location makes the workforce development relevant to players following that range. It does not establish which models, production schedules or dealer deliveries may be affected. The workforce figure alone does not answer those questions.
