Fender has explained the year-end pause listed for its Corona operation: the company says it concerns its usual holiday inventory period, not layoffs associated with that break.

In a statement to Guitar World on October 26, Fender put the period at December 14–31, 2026, and said employees would return in the new year. It also said some employees may have the option to work during those weeks.

What has changed since the notice

Our earlier report on the Corona notice distinguished a temporary closure from a permanent shutdown. The state summary did not explain the reason or provide a reopening date. Fender’s response now supplies the company’s explanation.

The California Employment Development Department’s report still lists 533 affected employees at 311 Cessna Circle, with an effective date of December 14 and a classification of “Closure Temporary.” The workbook checked on October 26 matches the version used for our previous report.

Fender says the formal notification reflects a more proactive approach to informing staff, rather than a fundamental change in its annual operating practices. That is the manufacturer’s account; it is not a blanket guarantee about every future workforce decision. Neither an exact January return date nor pay arrangements for the break have been established in the sources reviewed.

The guitar-making context

Corona is the production home Fender identifies for its refreshed American Professional range. That makes a clear distinction between a planned holiday pause and permanent closure important to players following those instruments. The notice alone does not establish delays to particular models or dealer deliveries.
