Drunk Beaver gives the SD-2 lead circuit a Halloween twist
Drunk Beaver’s limited Halloween overdrive develops its Kyiv Lead circuit with a three-band EQ and a glow-in-the-dark enclosure.
Drunk Beaver has unveiled Ghost of Kyiv, a limited Halloween overdrive that revisits the lead-channel circuit of the Boss SD-2. The new pedal develops the maker’s 2023 Kyiv Lead design, pairing that starting point with a Marshall-style three-band EQ.
More than a seasonal finish
According to Drunk Beaver’s product announcement, the circuit has been revised rather than simply rehoused. The company describes changes intended to tighten its response and add harmonic detail; those are manufacturer claims, not findings from a GuitarGangsters listening test.
The most useful distinction for players is the control layout. Bass, Mid and Treble have separate knobs instead of a single tone control. Volume and Drive complete the five-knob front panel, while an internal trimmer adjusts the status LED’s brightness.
That gives players individual controls for low, middle and high frequencies when adjusting the drive for their own rig.
The Halloween detail
The maker’s photographs show a pale enclosure that glows green in darkness, with the pedal’s graphics becoming more prominent. There is one footswitch beneath the controls.
Ghost of Kyiv is presented as a limited edition.
