Dave Grohl joins AC/DC for “Highway to Hell” at MetLife
Dave Grohl joined AC/DC for Highway to Hell at MetLife Stadium on October 2, following Foo Fighters’ opening set.

Foo Fighters opened the show. Dave Grohl came back for “Highway to Hell.” The frontman joined AC/DC at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Friday, October 2, 2026, turning a shared bill into an onstage collaboration.
In its same-night report, NJArts said Grohl played guitar and added backing vocals. Audience footage of the guest appearance has since surfaced on YouTube.
A rescheduled show, a second support slot
The concert had originally been scheduled for September 25. MetLife Stadium confirmed that dangerous weather forced the postponement and that Foo Fighters would join the October 2 bill.
It was the second time Foo Fighters had opened for AC/DC on this run, following the September 8 show in St. Louis. At MetLife, that arrangement also gave Grohl an opportunity to step into AC/DC’s set.
The band that helped set Grohl’s standard
There was a personal connection behind the pairing. As Stereogum reports, Grohl told the audience during Foo Fighters’ set about seeing AC/DC’s concert film Let There Be Rock when he was 11. He recalled the physical effort on screen and how it helped shape his own ambitions as a performer.
That gives the guest spot its significance: a musician who has spent decades leading his own band joining one of his formative influences for a song.
