Deafheaven release At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb EP
Deafheaven release At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb, a three-track EP produced by Arthur Rizk, alongside the official film for Hunter.

Deafheaven released At Work In The Fields Of The Bomb on October 9, 2026, with the three-track EP reaching streaming services alongside a short film for its opening song, “Hunter.” Produced by Arthur Rizk and released through Roadrunner Records, it follows the band’s 2025 album Lonely People With Power.
A concentrated black-metal project
In a new Metal Hammer interview, singer George Clarke explained that the band wanted a shorter release without the extended campaign normally attached to a full-length album. The EP comprises two main songs and an interlude.
Clarke traced its direction to guitarist Kerry McCoy’s renewed enthusiasm for black metal. The aim, he said, was to make direct, high-energy songs rather than the larger progressive structures Deafheaven sometimes build.
The idea behind the title
The title comes from Robert Del Tredici’s photographic book about the people and workplaces involved in nuclear-weapons production. Clarke connected the contrast between routine work and catastrophic consequences to his own themes of self-sabotage, ambition and complacency.
“Hunter” also has an accompanying official film. The film provides the visual counterpart to the EP’s opening track.

The band’s official store confirms October 9 as the release date and lists the same running order for the black-vinyl edition. Digital availability was announced that day; physical delivery depends on the edition and seller.
Clarke was cautious when asked whether this release predicts the next album’s direction. He expected riffs to remain important, while also wanting room for the more beautiful passages the band writes.
