Master Boot Record has released “Plug and Play,” a new single and video from Computer Metal, with a racing-game demo accompanying the launch. The album arrives October 30 through Metal Blade Records.

The October 15 announcement links the track to No Trace Back, a project from Theta Division Games, the team behind VirtuaVerse. Vittorio D’Amore supplies the music while developer Elder0010 handles the Unity coding; the pair share the concept and design work.

The video doubles as a trailer for the game. The announcement describes vector graphics inspired by early arcade titles and directs players to Theta Division’s website for a free demo. A larger version is planned, with narrative, strategy and VR elements discussed as future development. Those ambitions should not be confused with features already delivered in the demo.

That distinction matters here: this is a new song, a video and a playable preview, rather than the release of the completed game.

Where the guitars fit

Computer Metal follows 2024’s Hardwarez. Metal Blade describes a ten-track, 42-minute album written through MIDI in Cubase, with real guitar layered into its synthesized foundation.

Metal Blade’s album notes identify palm muting and human variation as reasons to retain guitars in that system. The computer remains central to the composition; the guitar parts add something the programmed sound cannot simply replace. That gives guitar listeners a useful question to follow through the record: where do the physical attack and the synthesized voice meet?

Lead guitarist Edoardo Taddei and drummer Giulio Galati form the live band alongside D’Amore. Taddei joined the band in 2022, according to his Ibanez artist biography.

Watch the official “Plug and Play” video, then find the demo through Theta Division. Metal Blade’s album page lists the October 30 release and preorder formats.
