Mother of Graves is streaming The Light That Keeps Us in full. The Indianapolis death-doom band announced the stream on October 15; the eight-track album releases October 16, 2026, through Profound Lore Records.

Guitarists Chris Morrison and Ben Sandman anchor the lineup, with Sandman also credited as producer, recording engineer and mixer at GLB Studios. Kamaron Lockwood recorded the drum tracks at Holy Ground Productions, and Dan Swanö mastered the record at Unisound.

The guitar partnership behind the record

The band’s 2024 Nine Circles Q&A describes the guitarists building different parts, distributing harmonies, leads and atmosphere between them. That offers an arrangement question to carry into the new stream: where does one guitar reinforce the other, and where does it introduce a separate line?

In a 2022 No Clean Singing interview, Morrison explained that he and Sandman had played together in Harakiri. When Morrison began developing Mother of Graves’ initial songs, he asked Sandman to help finish them, citing his songwriting and recording experience.

Morrison also named Sunny Day Real Estate and Split Lip as less-obvious influences on his melodies and arpeggiated riffs. These historical comments concern his writing style; they are not a track-by-track explanation of the new album.

Swanö’s role has expanded for The Light That Keeps Us. Alongside mastering, he contributes guest vocals to the opener, “Wingless Soul.” The core lineup is completed by vocalist and keyboardist Brandon Howe, bassist Corey Clark and drummer Don Curtis. The record follows 2024’s The Periapt of Absence.

The full stream puts the earlier previews in sequence: “Through the Pale Shade” appears second and “The Silent Weight of the Stars” fifth, with “The Endless Climb” closing the record. Listen to how the two guitars divide that space across the eight songs. LP, CD and digital editions are listed through the band’s official links.
