JHS PHERB combines reverb and phaser with a BREAK mode
JHS’s PHERB combines reverb and a four-stage phaser, with a BREAK mode that adds distortion before the effects.
JHS has added PHERB to its 3 Series, pairing reverb with a four-stage phase shifter in a pedal listed at US$99. The combination puts modulation after the reverb, rather than offering two independently selectable effects.
The manufacturer dates its development to October 2026.
A fixed order, with one important exception
PHERB has Mix, Speed and Length knobs plus a BREAK toggle. Speed adjusts the phaser; Length changes both reverb decay and pre-delay.
There is one useful qualification to the combined-effects concept: turn Speed fully counterclockwise in normal mode and the phaser drops out, leaving reverb. That option is not available in BREAK mode.
For a player choosing between PHERB and separate pedals, that distinction matters. This is a deliberately linked effect chain, not a substitute for every routing possibility offered by two independent stompboxes.
BREAK changes what enters the effects
JHS says BREAK distorts the incoming signal before it reaches the reverb and phaser. It is therefore more than a switch for another reverb setting.
The company specifies a 9V DC, centre-negative supply and 70mA current draw, and warns against exceeding 9V. Those are manufacturer specifications; we have not performed a hands-on test.
See JHS’s PHERB product details for the controls and power requirements. The practical question is whether you want independent effects—or a single pedal built around their interaction.
