Fractal and TONE3000 outline a direct NAM capture-library workflow for Axe-Fx III
The announced TONE3000 integration brings capture discovery into Axe-Edit III. Playback, capture creation and release availability remain separate questions.
TONE3000’s October 30 partnership announcement outlines direct capture-library browsing in Axe-Edit III and NAM A2 playback on the Axe-Fx III.
Less file management, more playing
The integration is intended to replace manual file transfers with browsing and installation inside the editor. TONE3000 specifies firmware 33.0 and Axe-Edit III 1.15.03 as minimum versions. Fractal’s editor download page already lists version 1.15.03 for Mac and Windows, dated October 30.
The NAM Player works within a preset’s effects chain. Match amp-only captures with cabinet processing, but avoid automatically adding another cabinet to a capture that already includes one.
Playback is not capture creation
A NAM capture-creation utility for Axe-Edit is still described as future work—not the same feature as playing existing captures.
For original Axe-Fx III Mark I owners, there is a specific precaution: TONE3000 says firmware 33 reassigns User Cab Bank 2 to NAM storage. Back up the IRs in that bank before updating.
Check the actual release before updating
At our November 2 check, TONE3000’s announcement still described firmware 33 as upcoming, while the accessible Fractal firmware-download page listed 32.06. We therefore cannot confirm general firmware-33 availability from those pages. Check Fractal’s current release information before installation; the editor’s October 30 date alone does not settle the firmware question.
The Axe-Fx III remains a rack processor, not a powered guitar amplifier. Its existing architecture combines amp and cabinet processing, effects and USB audio; the news here is the announced capture-library workflow, not a newly released rack unit.
